What to remove
How to remove the location from a photo
- Add your photos. A red “GPS location” label marks the ones that contain a position.
- Leave “Only the location” selected. The date and camera details stay as they are.
- Click Clean and download. Each result is read back to confirm the location is gone.
When you want only the location gone
- Selling onlineMarketplace photos taken at home give away your address. The camera data does no harm.
- Sharing with familyKeep the capture date so albums stay in order, without saying where the children go to school.
- PhotographersPublish full-resolution files with camera and lens details, without revealing a location or a client’s address.
- Before sending by email or cloud linkThese routes usually deliver the file untouched, metadata included.
Why the file stays the same size
Location data is blanked at its original position instead of rewriting the file. Nothing else moves, so the date, camera data and picture bytes stay exactly as they were, and that includes iPhone HEIC files.
Limitations
- Proprietary maker notes are not decoded. If a camera stores position data there, use “All metadata” mode to remove them too.
- Places named freely in a description or comment are not detected.
- What the picture shows, such as signs and landmarks, stays visible.
Frequently asked questions
Is this this location remover really free?
Yes. It is 100% free, with no usage limits, no account and no sign-up. There is no paid plan and no feature is locked.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Your photos are opened and processed inside your browser and never leave your device. The page only downloads its own code from this site. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics receives anonymous usage data such as page views, never your photos, their names or their metadata.
How do I remove the location from a photo on iPhone or Android?
Open this page in your phone’s browser, choose the photos and click Clean. On iPhone, the share sheet’s Options switch also removes location when sharing, but only for that share; this tool gives you a clean file you can send anywhere.
Will the date and camera information stay?
Yes. In “Only the location” mode nothing but location data is touched. If you want everything gone, switch to “All metadata”.
What exactly counts as location data?
The EXIF GPS block (coordinates, altitude, direction, speed, GPS date and time) and, in XMP, GPS values and place fields such as city, state and country.
Does it change the photo’s quality or size?
No. The location bytes are blanked where they are, so the file keeps the same size and the image data is identical.
Can a location still be guessed from the picture?
Yes. Landmarks, street signs or shop names remain visible. This tool removes the hidden data, not what the image shows.
Analytics: only if you accept cookies, the page loads Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) to count visits and see which tools are used. It never receives your photos, their names or their metadata. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page.
